Feb 20: Train ride to Rathembore

Our train ride to Rathembore ... oh boy!  Not quite what we expected  - we at least expected chairs!  But not triple bunk beds, which I guess is ok and practical when you travel the whole 20 hours from Amarista to Mumbai - but for us it was totally impractical for a 2 hour trip with 4 suitcases plus carry on bags, all to be stored on the bunk too!

Note: can't get into the hammer which is screwed down behind a thick Perspex case!!

Not only did this porter carry all four of our suitcases across the car park he also carried them over 4 railway tracks to our platform while we used the bridge!  He truly earned his tip!

The train n was running late, so again the  arrival at our destination was rushed - a quick lunch, then jump in the jeep for our first safari - with a budding rally driver over a wreck of a road!  Not only was it hair raising but it was dusty, noisy, smokey  and downright dangerous - we had to hang on for dear life.

At least we were rewarded with a tiger viewing.

By the time we got back to the hotel we felt beaten about, and well and truly knackered!!!
